Your Removals Checklist
Notified the following about your change of address
- Post Office.
- Relatives and friends.
- Taxation Offices.
- Electoral registrar.
- Financial institutions.
- Insurance Companies ( Car, Health, House )
- Doctors and Dentists.
- Shops where you may have direct debits.
Discontinued the following services before your removal
- Gas.
- Water.
- Electric.
- Telephone.
- Internet Services.
- Newspapers.
Have you also
- Defrosted your refrigerator and drained all water hoses two days prior to your removal as this will remove moisture.
- Disconnected your washing machine and drained all of the water systems.
- Removed all your fixtures and fittings.
- Returned any leased videos/books.
- Taken batteries out of toys and remotes.
- Taken ink cartridges out of printers.
- Put important items such as passports and tickets in personal luggage so they are not packed with the rest of your belongings.
- Disconnected all electronic items.
- Emptied/Purged all gas cylinders.
The following items cannot be transported on your removal
- Bleach Products
- Ammunition
- New or partially used cans of paint
- linseed oil
- Matches
- Petrol
- Lighters
- Batteries
- Charcoal
- Aerosols of any kind
- Kerosene
- Turpentine
- Cleaning Fluids
- Chemical sets
Do not's
- Do not put breakables in drawers.
- Do not put liquids in drawers.
- Do not store food.
- Do not forget to check your household before leaving to make sure all items have been packaged.
- Do not transport money, jewellery, legal documents, insurance policies or other important documents.
- Do not polish furniture before the removal. It may cause the furniture to condensate once wrapped.
The Night Before your removal
- Place keys to house and car in a safe location.
- Throw away glass bottles of liquids and nail polish.
- Throw away any flammable materials.
- Pack your suitcases and move them with your passports and tickets to a safe location to ensure they are not accidentally packed with your other belongings.
- Turn of air conditioners to ensure your items do not condensate when exposed to hot air.
