Removals Management

The importance of Imports is a big issue in my eyes, you can build very good relationships by servicing your overseas partner’s exports (your imports) and they will do the same in return. There are a lot of pitfalls in dealing with imports receiving the same customer service level that you give is of course very beneficial. We have covered all aspects of exporting household goods from initial enquiry to final delivery and paperwork needed from an agent to authorise payment so all delegates now fully versed and ready to take on the overseas market the transport industry has come under increasing pressure from Government departments, pressure groups and the general public with regard to environmental issues, it seems that most if not all removal companies are embracing these environmental issues as responsible employers. Our response to the economic downturn has been orthodox and effective focusing on customer satisfaction that focus seems to be paying off many of our early clients are still with us today. We like to think that because we work hard to understand the challenges and goals of the companies we work with so we can be more than just another service provider,  it costs ten times as much to win a new customer than retain an old one.

Lean and green on Removals

While ten to fifteen years ago it was still common for businesses to move with all their furniture, these days a company will often only take its IT and files with it when it relocates, we are capitalising on the two opportunities that this trend provides: the fit out for the new building, and the environmental services for managing the furniture in the former premises.

We are using the downturn to our advantage, cutting away excess fat and becoming a fitter sharper organisation. We are now a better business than we were 12 months ago. It’s not been fun but its been an excellent exercise for us. We’ve looked at what we do, we have looked hard at what we do: we have become a far more sales focused organisation at every level, and we have built a better business that is more focused on generating sales and income.

Removals and Storage companies need to keep pace with the increased demand from our customers and have to move with them or better still try and stay in front of them.

Whilst the market is very tough the number of households is going to rise from 24 million to 30 million in the next decades which means there will be much more moving going on.

Self Storage

The rise of the self storage sector in the UK has been one of the most outstanding business trends in the removals industry in recent years. Even despite the ongoing downturn, demand has remained relatively robust and removals businesses of all shapes and sizes are continuing to increase their exposure to the market.

While it does not replace traditional storage crates and containers, self storage can offer real added value to a removals business.

It is getting self storage right which is the hard part- doing the market research, choosing the right location, scale and facilities getting the initial fit out and adding new phases in an appropriate manner, all while minimising capital expenditure and maximising cash flows and returns.

Self storage is is a natural addition to a removals business it offers the end user a popular alternative to traditional crate storage with much improved access for the customer. Removers are in an ideal position to offer self storage to their clients and already have the majority of what is required in place including staff , vehicles and importantly the building.

Brand awareness and a good local reputation give a huge advantage over anyone starting from afresh and provide the remover looking to increase their product offering with a flying start.

Last minute removals

Quite a pleasurable phone call today from a customer in Accrington who needs a removal doing this weekend, the date was originally booked for tomorrow however the removal firm that was supposed to do the job could not do the move at weekend, I quickly drove over to Accrington to carry out a survey which proved to be quite interesting, it was the sort of house I would love to live in. There was a cellar which was huge and crying out to be converted into a flat, on top of that (excuse the pun) was another 3 floors with tons of space

Overseas trucks operating a bring your own fuel policy when they travel to Britain could put British businesses in jeopardy because of foreign competitors ability to undercut prices according to figures published by the department of transport.

Treasury coffers missed out on £215 million of revenue last year thanks to this sort of system and with further duty increases planned for October and next January, this trend is likely to continue. Typically a foreign truck uses 270 litres diesel whilst in the UK-equivalent to more than five full tanks for a ford mondeo. But with UK fuel prices being at an all time high
